A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint someone to make decisions and act on your behalf. The attorney (a person appointed) will be able to make decisions in respect of your financial affairs as well as your health and welfare.
It is equally important to make an LPA as it is to make provisions under your Will in the event that you lose mental capacity.
